With the approval of Latvijas Banka, Jakub Wieclaw, Chairman of the Board, and Deniss Filipovs, a Member of the Board, will join the Management Board of Magnetiq Bank on 2 January 2025. This addition to the team marks the end of the development phase of the Bank’s Board and management team.
Jakub Wieclaw is a financial and banking technology professional with more than 15 years of experience developing and implementing innovative FinTech solutions and facilitating strategic business development in the European region.
Before joining Magnetiq Bank, J. Wieclaw worked as the Business Development Director at Aion Bank S.A. and Vodeno Sp. z o.o. He managed projects across Northern and Central Europe in this role, focusing on banking-as-a-service solutions. Under his leadership, several important projects were implemented in collaboration with companies such as PayPo, InPost, ZEN, and others to develop and launch payment, lending, and digital banking solutions.
J. Wieclaw is an expert in financial product development. One of his most notable achievements is launching the first fully mobile bank in Belgium. His expertise in digital transformation has helped transform traditional banks into modern neobanks, driving innovation and customer satisfaction.
As a Magnetiq Bank Management Board member, Deniss Filipovs will be responsible for the bank’s IT systems, developing and implementing an IT strategy that will contribute to the bank’s digital development and internal system efficiency.
D. Filipovs is a seasoned FinTech professional with over 15 years of experience in the banking and FinTech sectors. Before joining Magnetiq Bank, he worked at Tietoevry as Strategic Business Development Director, leading innovation projects and fostering collaboration between banks and FinTech companies. He has designed and implemented various international business development strategies that led to the integration of new market entrants and partnerships with central banks and financial communities around the world.
Before that, D. Filipovs worked at Latvijas Banka for 10 years, holding several key positions, including Head of the Payment Systems Policy Department. He actively participated in working groups of the European Central Bank and the European Commission, contributing to the development of the financial sector. Deniss played a key role in developing Latvia’s payment systems, including SEPA integration and the introduction of flash payments, strengthening the country’s competitiveness in FinTech.

The current members of the Board, Edgars Valmers, Sandra Rituma and Maksim Leščinskis, are continuing their duties. Anton Kononov continues his work as COO of the Bank.
The new Magnetiq Bank Board aims to foster more effective financial innovation, improve access to digital services in the banking sector and strengthen the position of the FinTech industry in Europe.
